Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 30, 2026

Bracepad ("we", "the site") provides a free, browser-based JSON viewer, formatter and validator at bracepad.com. This page explains what data is and isn't collected when you use it.

1. Your JSON data

Any JSON you paste, upload, or drag into the tool is parsed and processed entirely inside your own browser using JavaScript. It is never uploaded to, transmitted to, or stored on any Bracepad server. If you close the tab, that data is gone unless it was saved by your browser's local autosave.

2. Local storage

Bracepad uses your browser's local storage to remember your last input (autosave) and your theme preference (dark or light). This data stays on your device and is never sent to us.

3. Share links

The optional "Share link" feature encodes the JSON you're viewing directly into the page URL so it can be reopened later or shared with someone else. Because the data lives in the URL itself, anyone with that link can see the encoded content — avoid sharing links that contain sensitive data.

4. Cookies and advertising

Bracepad shows ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. You can learn more about how Google uses data and manage your ad personalization settings at Google's Ads Policy page and Google Ads Settings.

5. Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate traffic (e.g., page views, approximate location by country) in order to improve the site. This data is not linked to the JSON content you process.

6. Children's privacy

Bracepad is a developer tool not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
